To mark World Suicide Prevention Day, Demi Lovato got candid, once again, about her own struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts. The singer and actress always tries to be as open as possible about mental health issues in hopes of helping others and ending stigma so her post was no surprise.
Still, that’s not to say that her fans appreciated her words any less just because she’s often outspoken about these issues.
The star took to her IG account to share a long message in which she talked about her past struggles with ‘suicidal thoughts and depression.’
‘Since a young age I have dealt with suicidal thoughts and with depression. I have been really vocal in raising awareness for mental health because it’s possible to see the light when you start working on yourself. I am living proof you never have to give in to those thoughts,’ Demi wrote.
And the post was not all! As you may know, Demi Lovato released a song called OK Not to Be OK in collaboration with Marshmello as well.
She went on to share with everyone: ‘But please let this song be an anthem to anybody who needs it. You can get through whatever it is you are going through. I am here for you always, you are not alone and I love you 💞.’
Naturally, the song is meant to encourage, empower and most importantly comfort people who are going through these things.
